HOW TO CLEAN & MAINTAIN YOUR MAKE-UP BRUSHES
We’re not going to pretend it’s the most enjoyable task, but cleaning your make-up brushes regularly is essential for hygiene, its good to get into a habit of cleaning them every couple of weeks or so, otherwise oil, bacteria and dust can build-up between the bristles and can be transferred onto your skin when you apply your make-up. It is a little time-consuming, but with huge benefits, your make-up will be quicker and easier to apply, it will help your make-up stay on for longer and even help keep your skin blemish free.
The fastest way to clean your brushes of bacteria and make-up is to use an alcohol-based formula. For a quick clean, spritz the cleaner into the bristles of the brush and buff onto a dry tissue, repeat this process until the brush is clean. For a deeper cleanse, let your brushes stand in a cleaning solution for 15 mins, be careful to submerge the fibres only as all our brush handles are FSC, sustainable wood and if submerged the structure will be damaged.
To finish rinse the brushes in lukewarm water until the water runs clean, make sure you point the brush downwards so the water runs through the fibres rather than into the handle. Remember not use any harsh detergents or submerge and soak the brushes in water as this will damage the bristles and structure of the brush. Always dry your brushes by laying them on a flat surface, this helps to stop the water from dissolving the glue at the base and will prevent the bristles from shedding.
